Correspondence and financial records of a cement and linseed oil manufacturing company based in Southington and Berlin, Connecticut. Financial records include a significant number of bills of lading. Also includes some personal correspondence and legal records of Sheldon Moore, Oliver Moore, and John Moore. Sheldon Moore's son John served in the Civil War and two letters and a journal from his time in the army are included in the collection.

Sheldon Moore was born in Southington, Connecticut on October 17, 1798. He graduated from Yale in 1818 and taught for some time in Virginia and Connecticut. Moore studied law and was admitted to the bar but chose instead to engage in business. He died in Kensington, Connecticut on March 20, 1866.
